Hello all, I'm new here. I'm about to buy an 88 Bronco II. But I would like to ask if there is anything I should watch for when I go to test drive/look it over.

Here is what little I know about it.

What Engine do you think this has? also is there a site where I can find specs on these? Thanks for all your help.

84-85 are carbuerated 2.8L. 86-90 are fuel injected 2.9L. 151K is pretty high mileage, but the 2.9's should be good for a few more depending on how it was cared for.

If there is any transmission noise, you're looking at a new tranny. Fortunatley, used engines and transmissions are pretty common these days.

Over all, I think these are sound little rigs. I really enjoyed mine. However they are getting pretty old now, so some major repairs should be expected. Plan your purchase accordingly.(as with any 20+ year old vehicle)

So would you say Paying $500 Be a good deal for this Rig? The body is in good shape. No dents or scratches.

yes I payed 400$ for mine back in 2006 and it was 2wd then they are awesome little trucks and perform well alot better than the jeep guys think they should Mine is now 4wd with a d35 up front and an 8.8" out back 4"of lift on 32x1150's. so there is alot of stuff that you can do.

Nice, and as I have been searching around, Parts are relatively cheap. So After owning Three Brand new cars, I think I'm going to pick up my first Used one and Start the Build.

onewyr - I would love to talk to you about your 4wd Conversion(time, parts, cost involved) cause that is something that I would Def like to do.

Can someone also point me in the direction of a site to buy tires.
